Nine Words Women Use

Now, you know you've used these words before.... enjoy! :)

NINE WORDS WOMEN USE

(1)
Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

(2)
Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

(3)
Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
(4)
Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

(5)
Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)

(6)
That's Okay:  This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

(7)
Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' . that will bring on a 'whatever').

(8)
Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying _ _ _ _ YOU!

(9)
Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.

* Send this to the men you know, to warn them about arguments
they can avoid if they remember the terminology.

* Send this to all the women you know to give them a good laugh, because they know it's true!!!

5 Things You Never Knew Your Cell Phone Could Do

Not sure if all is true, but you can go and check it out yourself!

5 Things You Never Knew

Your Cell Phone Could Do

For all the folks with cell phones. (This should be printed and kept in your car, purse, and wallet. Good information to have with you.)
There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies.
Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:

FIRST
Emergency

The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find Yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an Emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to Establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly, this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

SECOND
Have you locked your keys in the car?

Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys In the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot From your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

Editor's Note: It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked  our car over a cell phone!'

THIRD
Hidden Battery Power

Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys* 3370#. Your cell phone will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell phone next time.

FOURTH
How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following Digits on your phone*#06#. A 15-digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.

If your phone gets stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won' t get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

And Finally.....

FIFTH
Free Directory Service for Cells

Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 information calls when they don't have to. Most of us do not carry a telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even more of a problem. When you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial (800)FREE411  (800)FREE411, or  (800) 373-3411  (800) 373-3411 without incurring any charge at all. Program this into your cell phone now.

This is the kind of information people don't mind receiving, so pass it on to your family and friends.

"One More For the Road" & Live at The Living Room in New York City!

It's hard to believe we are two months into 2010...and 2010 still feels weird to say, right? Weird or not, it's been a great start so far! I've spent most of it on the road. For the past 6 weeks, my musical buddy Caleb Hawley and I have been roaming around the US in his Subaru, with the best dog in the world, the true star of the show, Fargo.

Today, I am in Grand Rapids, Michigan, one of many cities I had never been to until recently. It's cold here, much like the rest of the country. As the snow falls and seasons change I find myself thinking of all the great things I've seen via the highway. From Manhattan to Manhattan (Kansas that is), it's been a blast! I met a musical idol in Philly, saw a ton of family and friends, threw down in Chicago..deep dish style, I even ate donkey..(seriously, it's as gross as it sounds!). Thanks to all of you that helped make it a success. Thanks for coming out to a show or telling someone to come to a show. Special thanks to those who opened their homes to us, fed us, basically putting up with two dudes and a dog.....you rock! I just can't thank you enough.

The tour ends tomorrow and I am excited to return to my new home in Boston next week. Spring time is coming, not soon enough, even for you Floridians I suppose! There are some cool things happening soon. I have a big show at The Living Room next Saturday March 6th at 8 PM. If you are in the NYC area, or know someone that is, PLEASE COME! I'm also playing a big show in Somerville, Mass. at Johnny D's on March 9th.

I hope the winter is treating you all well. I have been moved by my travels and am excited about preparing for a new record. I have a lot of work to do and am looking forward to it! I will keep you posted. Stay warm!-RW

Captain Kennedy to release new Double A-Side Single ~ 5th April

Stretch that Penny / Sweetest Friend

Ahead of their debut album hitting the shops in early summer 2010, Captain Kennedy will be releasing a download only, double A-side of Stretch That Penny / Sweetest Friend.  The single will be available for download from iTunes, Amazon and other online retailers from 5th April 2010.

Stretch That Penny, powered by fiddle and gin-soaked piano, has already been featured as part of the BBC’s Raw Money campaign, providing sound advice for hard times.

Sweetest Friend, often regarded as the band’s signature tune and a firm favourite with Captain Kennedy fans, has been given a new lease of life with this release.  Often described as a heartfelt and poignant ballad, Ciaran Lavery’s gravel infused vocals ensure the song keeps its rawness and spontaneity.

BIOGRAPHY

Captain Kennedy are a 7-piece band from Northern Ireland.  2009 saw the band establish their position on the Irish music scene with a number of high profile festival appearances, the highlight being two dates at the prestigious Open House Festival.  Other impressive gigs including sharing the stage with the likes of Alela Diane, Noah and the Whale and Foy Vance and appearances on the same festival bills as renowned artists such as Steve Earle, Mumford and Sons and Laura Marling, have cemented Captain Kennedy’s reputation as a formidable live act.

2010 sees the band release their debut album “See You When I See You”.  The album, produced, recorded and mixed by well renowned producer Mudd Wallace (Therapy?, Andy White, Pat McManus), sees the band play on their strengths, namely the ability to deliver a catchy, melodic tune whilst maintaining their edgy, raw sound, an enduring feature of Captain Kennedy’s live shows.

Thunder Buffalo's rolling your way (free song!)

Hello again from Sarathan Records! This is Jessica writing.

If you're looking for intensely original music that pushes the envelope, I think we've found just the thing for you:

Thunder Buffalo's self-titled debut LP, freshly released online and in stores!  We've described this raw new album as an oldies concoction mixed with dirty guitars and feedback. If you can imagine this, Thunder Buffalo floats sonically somewhere between Pink Floyds' Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Raveonettes' Chain Gang of Love, and Death by Sexy by Eagles of Death Metal.

Download a gift song from Thunder Buffalo, "BeBop Sing-A-Long" (and feel free to play on your station!)
http://sarathan.com/thunderbuffalo/free/

Formed at the end of 2008, Thunder Buffalo was originally the brainchild and one-man act of Aaron Schroeder. Upon his arrival to Seattle, WA, Schroeder spent the last part of '08 and of early '09 in the studio spitting out songs that ranged from Country Western to Wall-of-Sound Noise, using nothing more than a guitar, floor tom, and loop pedal. Always unhappy with the end result, Schroeder shelved 3 records (a total of 34 songs) in search of a sound he knew was out there, yet unable to grab hold of.

What did Schroeder finally find that he considered worthy of release?

Stream Thunder Buffalo's self-titled album and find out (but first do yourself a favor and turn down your speakers)!
http://sarathan.com/thunderbuffalo/selftitled/

Thanks for your time. I'm curious to hear what you think!

Best,
~Jessica

The Progress Report. It's Happening.

If you're having trouble viewing this email, you may see it online.
Forward this message to a friend
David Berkeley
Hello Everyone,
I am writing from the studio in Chicago, which like most of America it seems, is buried in snow. The mixing has begun and feels great. To sweeten the pot a bit, Iron and Wine is working in the adjacent studio and weighing in on what we're doing. And if he likes it, I think you will, too.

Wanted to give everyone an update on this funding project of ours and to quickly thank everyone who has already given. As the picture below reveals, we are about a third of the way there. This is amazing. Thank you. If not another dime rolls in, I will be fully satisfied, grateful and moved by your support. (This is probably the worst thing to admit in a fund drive. You never hear the NPR team suggest anything like that, do you?) That all being said, of course, if we are going to fully fan-fund this baby, we need the other two-thirds.

Now I'm about to make another fundraising faux pas--which is to say that I readily admit that there are FAR more worthy causes for your money than David Berkeley's record. And please please, don't even consider giving me money that would otherwise go somewhere that really needs it. But, if you'd otherwise just be getting your dog a new sweater vest or jumbo sizing a few meals, then consider all the amazing items you can get if you give your money here.  You'll also become an active member of the family, helping in whatever way you can, to get this record done.

And remember, although there are some big price-tagged items (private serenades, songs written for you, etc.), there are also good deals for relatively small change: $25 gets you an autographed first run copy of the disc, and $50 gets you said autographed CD, 2 guest list passes to the show of your choice, backstage access and this snazzy homemade membership card. You almost gain money on that deal...

So that's the update for February. I'll send another one with a new pic of the fundometer next month.

Thank you.
Truly,
David

Dylan Sneed News - US Texodus Fundraising: All Or Nothing

Hey everyone. I hope it's not too cold wherever you are.

This is just a little reminder about my fundraising campaign for my
new record, Texodus. If you haven't yet, please check out the
fundraising website (http://kck.st/bA9h2A), and decide how much you'd
like to pledge. There's all sorts of rewards, and you can pledge as
little as $1.

Also, don't forget that if we don't raise the ENTIRE GOAL, I get
NOTHING. So if you'd like to hear this new record, please share this
message with your friends and encourage them to make a pledge today. I
know we can do it!

We're about 25% of the way through with 44 days left. Here are some
examples of how we can reach our goal:

$105 pledged per day the rest of the way.

230 pledges for a signed copy of Texodus.

9 pledges for a private house concert.

The combinations are endless. With about 2,000 people on my national
email list and over 4,000 Facebook and Myspace friends, this should be
a cinch. Check out the handy tools on my Kickstarter profile that
allow you to share this project with your friends.

Thanks again for supporting independent music,

Dylan

NEWS

Hi Kathy !

I have some fun shows coming up over the next few days you won't want to miss. After all, it's Valentines Day and my birthday! Come out and help me celebrate.

For Valentines, how about a (free!) show in a wine cellar at a romantic B&B. You can have some food and wine, hear a great show, and if you wish, reserve a room! I'll be playing Saturday night at the Saluda Inn Wine Cellar from 8-10.

For my birthday, we have a FREE show on your lunch hour at the Cherokee County Public Library in Gaffney. Even better, everyone who comes gets a FREE lunch! (I've even heard a rumor there may be birthday cake). The show is from 12:15-1PM. I had so much fun the last time I played here & can't wait to come back.  Right after, I'll be heading over to visit my friends at WGWG and play some tunes live on air. Be sure to tune in.

All the show details are below!

Wanna get me a present? Why not buy one of my CD's for yourself or a friend? that's the best gift I could get. Click the links below to purchase from Amazon, CDBaby or Itunes.

I'll be heading to Memphis next week for Folk Alliance & playing 2 showcases on Thursday night. If you're coming too, be sure to find me & say hi.

"Angela Easterling is a bright shining star on the country/folk/alt.music horizon! Her gift is so special. I loved listening to her new "Black Top Road" CD! Brought me back to the time the Byrds recorded "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" - tradition meets youthful exuberance!"  — Roger McGuinn (founder of The Byrds)
"Angela Easterling is a quietly plaintive singer who rewards attentive listening. Her Blacktop Road is out-and-out "alt. country," A lot of the songs here sound like they've been around for years—that's a compliment—including the sweetly yearning cover of "Helpless."
