David Berkeley
Hello Everyone,
I am writing from the studio in Chicago, which like most of America it seems, is buried in snow. The mixing has begun and feels great. To sweeten the pot a bit, Iron and Wine is working in the adjacent studio and weighing in on what we're doing. And if he likes it, I think you will, too.

Wanted to give everyone an update on this funding project of ours and to quickly thank everyone who has already given. As the picture below reveals, we are about a third of the way there. This is amazing. Thank you. If not another dime rolls in, I will be fully satisfied, grateful and moved by your support. (This is probably the worst thing to admit in a fund drive. You never hear the NPR team suggest anything like that, do you?) That all being said, of course, if we are going to fully fan-fund this baby, we need the other two-thirds.

Now I'm about to make another fundraising faux pas--which is to say that I readily admit that there are FAR more worthy causes for your money than David Berkeley's record. And please please, don't even consider giving me money that would otherwise go somewhere that really needs it. But, if you'd otherwise just be getting your dog a new sweater vest or jumbo sizing a few meals, then consider all the amazing items you can get if you give your money here.  You'll also become an active member of the family, helping in whatever way you can, to get this record done.

And remember, although there are some big price-tagged items (private serenades, songs written for you, etc.), there are also good deals for relatively small change: $25 gets you an autographed first run copy of the disc, and $50 gets you said autographed CD, 2 guest list passes to the show of your choice, backstage access and this snazzy homemade membership card. You almost gain money on that deal...

So that's the update for February. I'll send another one with a new pic of the fundometer next month.

Thank you.
Truly,
David
