Dylan Sneed News - US Big Summer Tour, Texodus News

Hey friends.

Summer is almost here, and that means it's time for me to traipse
around the country for about a month and a half. Please glance at the
calendar on my Myspace page or my official site to see if I'm coming
near you.

I'll be hitting TN, OH, MI, IN, MO, CO, ID, OR, CA, NM, and TX so far.
17 confirmed shows and counting. Keep your eyes on those calendars for
the latest confirmations. If you'd like me to make a detour to your
neck of the woods, just email me, and I'll see what I can do.

Texodus News: The album is done! All we have to do now is get the CDs
printed, which will take about 15 business days. I'll get them shipped
to me while I'm in Oregon, most likely, and then I'll begin mailing
them out to those who have pre-ordered through Kickstarter.com or at
shows.

New t-shirts will be available on this tour as well. They're going to
look neat.

Hope to see you out there.

Thanks for supporting independent music,

Dylan

Fishing Catch Of The Year

FISHING CATCH OF THE YEAR!!!

Don't you just love nature? Not something you see too often . Scott Nelson and his Sons were fishing Saturday when this small Whitetail fawn approached them on the South fork of the Snake River . It must have spent the summer bumming from campers or maybe one the home owners in the lower canyon was feeding it so it lost its fear of humans.

These pictures are without question the Catch of the year.

David Berkeley on Daytrotter

David Berkeley
Hello Kathy,
Writing to share the news that I'm the session of the day on the fabulous indie music site Daytrotter today. If you don't know it, daytrotter is basically 4 guys who dreamed big in the little town of Rock Island, Indiana. They bought an old loft, dragged in all their vintage recording gear (tape machines, ribbon mics, etc.) and then they started calling their favorite bands to see if they'd come by and play a few songs live for them. They got Bonnie Prince Billy pretty early. They got Death Cab for Cutie. They got Andrew Bird. In just over 4 years, they've amassed an amazing archive of some of the best in music--bands you've heard of, bands you should hear of.

Jordan and I took a morning off while we were in Chicago to mix the new record and drove over. It was freezing cold. The loft isn't exactly heated. The drawing they did of me (they do great pastel drawings of each act) shows bubbles that look like speech bubbles. They're actually because of how bloody cold it was.

Check it out. And post a comment. And then check out all the other music there. You'll thank me.

For those interested in our funding progress...I'm pleased to report that if a couple private shows slated to happen, do happen, we will have raised the full whopping total of $32,000. I'm blown away and super inspired. And I deeply deeply thank you. Of course, there's always money to spend...on promotion and all sorts of other things. So we're keeping the donation line open. And you can still give and get your name in the liner notes or get DB goods or a private serenade. To give, click here. But we did. You did it. Thank you.

Upcoming shows:
May 27th: The Hunter Museum in Chattanooga, TN (6pm)
June 9th: Bryant Park, NYC (6pm)
June 10th: The Living Room, NYC (8:30pm)
Aug 6: Universalist Unitarian Church in Atlanta, GA (8pm)
Place de l'eglise Tralonca, Corzica, France

-----------------------------------------------

PRESS RELEASE:

Co.Armagh band Captain Kennedy will be officially releasing the second single to come from their forthcoming album See You When I See You on 24th May.  No Friend of Mine, recorded and produced by Mudd Wallace, will be available to download exclusively from the band’s bandcamp website at www.captainkennedy.bandcamp.com

The single will feature original artwork from up and coming artist/designer Dermy McConaghy – www.manchini.co.uk

Here’s the important bit…. ALL proceeds from download sales will be donated to the Brian Kerr Wish Fund.

Brian’s Story

“My name is Brian and I am 8 years old.  I have a terminal condition called Fanconi's Anaemia of which there is no known cure.  Some children with my condition get a bone marrow transplant but this is only successful if we have a related donor and I don't.  My bone marrow doesn't work properly making new blood so sometimes I get very tired and bleed heavily.

My sister Helen had a bone marrow transplant from my brother, but Helen died two months later.  Helen was my twin and I miss her very much.

I have a wish to go to Florida and ride the big roller coasters but it is going to take a lot of money for me to get there and the insurance is going to be high too.  I would like to go to Florida while I have the health to enjoy it and am not too tired and I can't go when my bloods go down in case I haemorrhage on the rides.

My mummy can't afford to take me because mummy gave up work when Helen took sick and now she spends all her time with my brother and me.

Please can you help raise money to help my mummy grant my wish, I want my mummy and brother to have special memories of me when I'm with Helen in Heaven and I know I will enjoy Florida too.

Please can you make a small donation because my mummy says all the wee pounds add up.”

Thank you very much,

Love from Brian Kerr

Free Music. Free toys. And Phil's obsession with running.

Phil Putnam
May 7, 2010

Spring is here, and I’m a runner now. I run. I have shoes and shorts and shirts for running, and I run between 12 and 15 miles a week. On a treadmill. In my gym. Which is across the street from a McDonalds, which is perfectly framed in the window in front of the treadmill. Yet still, I run.

It’s partly to get in fighting shape for my next video shoot, and partly because I’m 30 and I was a fat kid and I think running a mile (or several) is something I should just be able to do. So I run. And I love it.

Here’s some other fun Spring news…

FREE MUSIC AND WIDGETS

I’ve added some new widgets (aka software toys) to philputnam.com for your enjoyment. One gives you a free download of my single “I’m No Prize”, and the other is a music player that you can use to listen to my songs and share them with your friends emailing it or posting it on your facebook, myspace, twitter, and other social networks.

WILL TWEET FOR TUNES
(follow me @PhilPutnamMusic)

One of the other new toys allows fellow tweeters to get free music on Twitter. To get a free download of my song “Not Much Here”, do two simple steps:

1) Follow me @PhilPutnamMusic

2) Tweet the following phrase on your twitter page:

Free download of Phil Putnam's song Not Much Here. Just retweet this and follow him, and it's yours. #PhilPutnam4free

Once you do those two steps, you’ll receive a direct message with a link to the free download. Toys for Tweets…not too shabby.

BIG NEWS COMING SOON

Yep, there’s big news coming soon. Believe me, and save us both the joy of me saying I told you so when the news comes out. Though I can’t go into details just yet, I can say that something truly career-breaking is on the horizon for me, and it will share my music with several countries around the world in a way that I have never experienced before. I’m dying to share the news, so as soon as I can you will know. Until then, bate your breath with me.

That’s the latest. I’m off to run.

Phil
