David Berkeley on Daytrotter

David Berkeley
Hello Kathy,
Writing to share the news that I'm the session of the day on the fabulous indie music site Daytrotter today. If you don't know it, daytrotter is basically 4 guys who dreamed big in the little town of Rock Island, Indiana. They bought an old loft, dragged in all their vintage recording gear (tape machines, ribbon mics, etc.) and then they started calling their favorite bands to see if they'd come by and play a few songs live for them. They got Bonnie Prince Billy pretty early. They got Death Cab for Cutie. They got Andrew Bird. In just over 4 years, they've amassed an amazing archive of some of the best in music--bands you've heard of, bands you should hear of.

Jordan and I took a morning off while we were in Chicago to mix the new record and drove over. It was freezing cold. The loft isn't exactly heated. The drawing they did of me (they do great pastel drawings of each act) shows bubbles that look like speech bubbles. They're actually because of how bloody cold it was.

Check it out. And post a comment. And then check out all the other music there. You'll thank me.

For those interested in our funding progress...I'm pleased to report that if a couple private shows slated to happen, do happen, we will have raised the full whopping total of $32,000. I'm blown away and super inspired. And I deeply deeply thank you. Of course, there's always money to spend...on promotion and all sorts of other things. So we're keeping the donation line open. And you can still give and get your name in the liner notes or get DB goods or a private serenade. To give, click here. But we did. You did it. Thank you.
